Gu Ch'in Instructors' Biography

Ms. Gao, 55 years old, who was born in Qingdao city, inherited the mantle of Guang Ling School of Gu Ch’in. She likes folk musical instruments and has been playing them since her childhood. Besides Gu Ch’in, She is also good at bamboo flute, bamboo flageolet, Peking Opera fiddle and Beijing opera urheen etc. When she was enrolled in Peking Opera Troupe of Zaozhuang city in Shan Dong Province at her 16 years old. She studied and became a professional fiddle player finally. Later she honored Mister Jiang Kangsheng who was a master at Gu Ch’in of Guang Ling School as her Gu Ch’in teacher. During the period,. She worked hard at Gu Ch’in and often practiced over ten hours or more everyday that her skill can be competed with any master of Gu Ch’in today.
The repertoire she is good at playing includes: "The Wild Swan Goose Returning to the South at Autumn " (the longest repertoire), "Da Hu Jia", "Stream", "Trilogy of Plum Blossom", "Spring Breeze", "Mist and Clouds Over Xiao-Xiang River", "Antiphony Between a Fisherman and a Woodman", "The Yell between Fishmen" etc.


From 2006 to 2010, Gao set up Clouds Ch’in Club in Shandong to develop Gu Ch’ culture for local folks. With over several decades of teaching, many of her students have gotten admission to conservatories of music around China. She has studied out a method of teaching people who start from scratch through collecting and rebuilding the merits of different Gu Ch’in School in years of teaching practice. She forms into her own teaching style "simple, easy, standard", so that her students can be instructed in a very short period and hooked on the art of Gu Ch’in. All are essence of melody. At present she teaches at Beijing, so it is a nice opportunity for following her to study Gu Ch’in.

    Most Android dvicees only support 2 simultaneous touches, which is not enough for music apps. Hopefully that will change in the future.
